Country-wide rallies to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day

Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed Wednesday to remind the international community to fulfill its commitment with the Kashmiri people for granting them their right to self-determination. The day dawned with the special prayers for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and early liberation of Occupied Kashmir. One minute silence was observed at 10.00 am to express solidarity with Kashmiri brethren. It was a public holiday. 

Accoriding to Daily azad kashmir news functions‚ seminars and rallies were held and human chains would be formed at various bridges connecting Azad Kashmir with Pakistan.  In Muzaffarabad a rally was organized jointly by various political and social parties despite inclement weather. The rally started from central press club and culminated at Gharipan chowk. Addressing the rally speakers called for implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir to settle decades-old conflict in accordance with the wishes of people of Jammu and Kashmir.


 They also called upon international community to implement resolutions on Kashmir passed by United Nations. Similar rallies were held in Mirpur, Bagh, Rawalakot, Kotli, Bhimber, Sudhnuti, Neelum and Hattian Bala. In Lahore‚ Forum for Kashmir organized a seminar at the Lahore press club in which former caretaker Prime Minister Muhammad Mian Soomro was the chief guest. In Peshawar‚ Yom-e-Yakjehti Kashmir rally was taken out from Hashtnaghri Chowk to Ashraf Road.

On the occasion of the Kashmir Solidarity day a group of Members of the National Assembly presented a Memorandum on behalf of the Chairman, Special Kashmir Committee of the National Assembly, MaulanaFazl-ur-Rahman to the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization. The Members of the National Assembly comprising of Mr. Ijaz-ul-Haq (MNA) and Ch. Iftekhar Nazeer (MNA) presented the Memorandum jointly. 

The Memorandum was received by the Mr. Timo Pakkala, Resident Representative of the United Nations in his office in Islamabad. The Memorandum reminded the United Nations about the pending agenda of United Nations since more than six decades. It further emphasized that the holding of a plebiscite in the Jammu and Kashmir without further delay in accordance withthe United Nations Security Council institutions is the only way to resolve the Kashmir issue.

 Accoriding to Daily azad kashmir news The delegation also urged the UN that India may be persuaded to resume the composite dialogue with Pakistan with a view to peacefully resolvingall outstanding issues between the two countries including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The delegation impressed upon the Human Rights Council to appoint a Special Rapporteur on Jammu and Kashmir to check the unabated human rights violations in the area. 

The Members also stressed upon the Secretary General to activelyencourage, facilitate and support efforts leading to a peaceful Resolution of Jammu and Kashmir issue in accordance with the relevant Security Council Resolutions as well as to exercise the mandate entrusted to him by Charter of the United Nations and under relevant international instruments, to safeguard the fundamental rights and freedoms of the oppressed Kashmiri people -For latest news kindly visit Daily azad kashmir news.

Kashmir dispute: PM Nawaz invites India for talks to resolve

According to Newspaper of azad kashmir Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has invited India to come forward with a positive approach for resolving Kashmir dispute through negotiations. Addressing the joint sitting of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and Kashmir Council here on Wednesday ' he emphasized that the region will remain in the grip of uncertainty and confrontation as long as Kashmir dispute is not resolved in accordance with UNHC resolutions and the aspirations of Kashmiri people. 


Newspaper of azad kashmir describe non resolution of the dispute will also have adverse effect on the socio-economic development of the region, he added. Sharif expressed the confidence that the Indian leadership while realizing the sensitivity of the issue will reciprocate to his invitation of dialogue in a positive manner and give right to self-determination to the people of J&K. He said good friendly relations between the two countries could promote if India accepts' the right to self-determination of Kashmiri people. He reiterated that Pakistan wants to resolve all outstanding issues with India' including the core issue of Kashmir' through meaningful and result oriented dialogue. Nawaz Sharif said Kashmir dispute remains on the list of unfinished agenda of the United Nations and this issue has a central place for peace in the South Asia.

 He said like other parts of the world' the Kashmiris also have the right to decide their future with their own free will. Sharif observed that Pakistan had taken several concrete steps to reduce the hardships faced by the people living on both sides of the Line of Control. The steps include the opening of the Line of Control to facilitate trade and movement of the people. These steps clearly reflect that Pakistan desires for peace in the region. "Pakistan is a peace loving country and our desire for peace is also reflective from the dialogue process with the Taliban. Referring to the strong bonds of love and brotherhood existing between the people of Pakistan and Kashmir' the Prime Minister said the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for freedom will not go in vain. He said the unwavering struggle of Kashmiri people is indicative of the fact that this dispute cannot be overlooked or ignored.

According to Newspaper of azad kashmir the international community cannot remain silent on the gross human rights violations in the occupied territory, he maintained. He said Pakistan will continue to echo voice for the rights of Kashmiri people at all forums till the realization of their dream. Assuring all out support to the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for right to self-determination' Sharif said Pakistan strictly adheres to its stance on Kashmir dispute that it should be resolved in accordance with the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Referring to the close affinity between Kashmiri and Pakistani people' the Prime Minister said that development of Azad Kashmir is as dear to him as that of Pakistan. He said the government is planning for the development of basic infrastructure in the State and added that a session of talks should be held between the leadership of AJK and Pakistan. The projects include linking Muzaffarabad and Mirpur with G.T. road through dual carriage-way, extending Islamabad express way up to Muzaffarabad, plan to link Muzaffarabad with Karakorram Highway and construction of railway link between Islamabad to Muzaffarabad and later from Muzaffarabad to Chakothi.

 He acknowledged that there is vast potential of hydropower generation in AJK which could be harnessed through proper strategy to overcome the energy problem in the country. Speaking on the occasion' Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed appreciated Mr. Nawaz Sharif's efforts for unequivocally raising the Kashmir dispute at the international level including the United Nations and meeting with US President. He said Kashmiris have rendered unparallel sacrifices for their right to self-determination which should not go waste. This very right has also been accepted by the international community, he added. Indian troops martyr one Kashmiri youth in Pulwama



According to Newspaper of azad kashmir Indian troops in their continued acts of state terrorism martyred a youth during a crackdown operation in Awantipora area of Pulwama district. The youth was short dead after the area was besieged by Indian troops, last night. The killing triggered a forceful anti-India protest demonstration marked with complete shutdown in the area. Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of the martyred youth, Wasim Ahmad Dar. 




Newspaper of azad kashmir quoted that the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani addressing a gathering over phone, on the occasion, maintained that the sacrifices rendered by people of Kashmir would not be allowed to go waste. He said that India would not succeed in suppressing the Kashmiris’ voice for freedom through use of brute force. The protest in the area was led by APHC leader, Syed Bashir Andrabi. People on the occasion raised anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, APHC leaders, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Zafar Akbar Butt and Hilal Ahmad War and Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement Chairperson, Farida Behanji in their separate statements paid glowing tributes to the martyred youth.

GDP growth in current financial year

According to Daily azad kashmir news Dec 19 (Online): Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that due to viable economic reforms‚ the country is heading towards economic revival and stability.The National Assembly resumed its session Thursday with Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi in the chair Making a policy statement in the National Assembly ‚ he said that due to these policies‚ average GDP growth in the first quarter of the current fiscal year has risen to five percent as compared to two point nine percent in the same period last year..He said the government is committed to bring the GDP ratio up to six percent during the next four years. By the grace of God Almighty two third target of the GDP has been achieved in the current fiscal year.Ishaq Dar said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had made a commitment in the election manifesto that budget deficit will be brought down to four percent during the next five years.He said due to prudent economic policies‚ the government has been successful to bring down this rate from eight point eight percent to eight percent.

Daily azad kashmir news stated that he said it is hoped that budget deficit will further decrease by the end of this fiscal year and the targets will be achieved which will help ensure bring stability in the economy.He said this target has been achieved despite hurdles like payment of huge amount of circular debts and loans while the government successfully was able to save over 135 billion rupees that is a record.The Finance Minister said that the government has paid 503 billion rupees of circular debt. He said due to non-payment of this amount‚ there was daily load shedding of sixteen to eighteen hours in the country during in the last months of the previous government.Giving details about payment of the circular debt‚ the Minister said 348 billion rupees were paid in the first phase by issuing 128 billion rupees worth of Pakistan Investment Bonds‚ cutting and saving expenditure worth 135 billion rupees‚ 20 billion rupee dividends from public sector enterprises and 59 billion rupees of cash paid out of Federal Consolidated Fund.

He said the remaining 138 billion rupees were paid in July by recovering government loans from different organizations.Ishaq Dar said the country was also paying 14% interest on the circular debt and by retiring the debt‚ we would be saving 55 billion rupees annually just on account of interest.He said the retiring of circular debt also enabled addition of 1700 MW of electricity to the national grid and as a result the industrial growth surged to 7 percent in the first quarter of the current financial year.The Finance Minister said that the government took a number of austerity measures to reduce burden on the national exchequer. He said the Prime Minister’s discretionary fund has been reduced zero. He said the functioning of foreign missions has been thoroughly reviewed and it will save two billion rupees by curtailing different expenditures.He said seventeen percent new companies have been registered during the last five months which shows the interest of the business community in the government. He said similarly‚ the stock exchange growth has also increased by 27 percent.The Minister said that presently the foreign exchange reserves situation is not satisfactory but due to the government’s measures during the next three years it will improve and reach 20 billion dollars.Clarifying different statements regarding printing of notes‚ Ishaq Dar said that during the last five months 672 billion rupees new notes have been printed while 466 billion rupees notes have been deposited. He said in this way the total new circulation is of 206 billion rupees.Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali told the House during question hour that during the coming months maximum of four to six hours load-shedding will be made due to lower production of electricity in the hydel sector.

He said the extra Hajj expenditures are being waved off in this regard.He said that the Hajj operation 2013 has successfully been completed and no major complaint regarding problems faced by Hujjaj has been received. He said 11500 minor complaints were received that were addressed appropriately.

To a question‚ Minister of State for National Health Services‚ Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar told the House that legislation work is underway to address the issues regarding pharmacists. She said the bill will be introduced in the House within three months.She said the government is also working to check and control the functioning of the unregistered health laboratories and quacks.To a question‚ Parliamentary Secretary for Ports and Shipping Mian Imtiaz Ahmad told the House that Special Economic Zone will be set up at Gwadar under the vision of the Prime Minister. He said the zone will be exempted from tax for twenty years. He said there will be no duty on raw material and the foreign investors will be ensured complete protection.He said that work on Gwadar Port started in 2004 while it was formally inaugurated in 2007.
